À propos de Cappadoce
Cappadocia is not one town but a region of several, spread across a volcanic plateau. Wind and water carved the soft rock into cones and pillars (the fairy chimneys), and for centuries people dug homes, dovecotes, churches and whole underground cities into it.
Göreme is the hub, with most cave hotels, tour offices and balloon launch sites close by. Uçhisar is quieter and higher, Ürgüp and Ortahisar feel more like everyday towns, and Avanos sits on the Kızılırmak river, known for its pottery.
Plan around the mornings: balloons take off at dawn when the weather allows, and the valleys are at their best in the low light before the day tours arrive.
